Thomas Howard Edwards, Jr.

Thomas Howard Edwards, Jr., 90, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Hospice House with his family by his side.
He was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina on March 5, 1920 to the late Thomas H. and Iva Robinson Edwards. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a graduate of the University of Georgia. Thomas was a long-time member of Southside Baptist Church. He retired in 1979 as an administrator from the Chatham County Board of Education after more than 36 years of service. Upon retirement, he enjoyed supporting several Savannah organizations and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Hart Edwards, of Savannah, son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Laura Edwards, of Atlanta, GA, daughter, Phyllis Edwards Childs, of Athens, GA, brother, Andrew A. Edwards, of Savannah, five grandchildren, Joe Edwards Kerri, Ashley Edwards, Elizabeth Childs, Tommy Edwards and Charlie Edwards, two great-granddaughters, Mylie and Maggie, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Graveside Service will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Northside Cemetery in Pembroke, GA.
